To mark the (almost) last night of Let’s Go! – UEL’s hard-rockin’ alternative night – Docklands Bar hosted its first ever full-on live band. Captured are a gang of punks from somewhere a long way away, and as soon as they materialised among the Let’s Go! faithful, it was clear tonight was going to be something special. Deadlines may have harmed the turnout, but there was still a healthy number there, swelled by some travelling Captured fans. The band went on after another brilliant weekly guest DJ slot, and despite technical hitches reducing them to just one mic, played a blinding set. They opened with a cover of Rancid’s recent ‘Fall Back Down’, and then lashed out a series of their own punk blasts. By the time they reached ‘Spaghetti Western’, and their version of Rancid classic ‘Ruby Soho’, they’d even developed a moshpit – in Docklands Bar! Top night all round, hopefully the first of many.
